Credit unions give back in countless ways to increase the financial well-being of their communities. It’s ingrained in the foundation and philosophy of credit unions as well as the cooperative principle of “concern for community.” We recently facilitated a Twitter chat around credit unions charitable and holiday giving back efforts, which you can see highlights of here.
Now you can make an even bigger difference…easily. Just by sharing a picture of your efforts on social media, you can help support Reality Fairs! There is a new campaign this month from our friends at CUNA Mutual Group to share you and/or your credit union’s giving back efforts via social media. For every picture or video of you giving back that is tweeted or posted via Instagram including @CUNAMutualGroup and #CUGiveBackor posted to their Facebook page with the hashtag #CUGiveBack, they’ll donate $5 (up to a maximum of $10,000) to us at the National Credit Union Foundation. The charitable gift from CUNA Mutual Group to the Foundation will support 20 additional Reality Fairs in 2016, reaching 100-250 students per fair, or up to 5,000 more teens than in 2015. The fairs provide needed financial knowledge to Generation Z, which research shows 11 percent say no one has helped them with financial education.
